'Go Run for Fun!'...

When the organised fun run around the lake at Fairlop Waters was cancelled because of the heat, it didn't stop Fairlop Children from running.
The event was transferred to the school field in a cooler part of the day.

149 children from years 1 - 6 took part, all dressed in bright pink T-shirts, sponsored by INEOS.  Many of the children completed 4 laps of the field. This distance is equivalent to a mile!
Parents cheered them on and music played as they completed their laps.

Athletics Finals at Crystal Palace....

On Tuesday 24th March, 25 Fairlop Athletes traveled to Crystal Palace, to compete in the London Youth Games Sportsthall Athletics Final.
This was a competition of a different caliber and we would have to raise our game if we were to win any medals.

The athletes were well prepared and produced some very good performances.
In Particular; the boys were 3rd in the chest push and 3rd in the 1+1 sprint, whereas, the girls were 3rd in the vertical jump, 2nd in the speed bounce and 1st in the over/under relay.

At the end of the competition, the results were announced and we were in 7th position. 7th out of 33 London Boroughs, what an achievement and what a fantastic experience for all the pupils who represented Redbridge at this outstanding competition.

A special thank you to the parents who supported this event!

Athletics at the Copperbox...

On the 6th March 2015 Fairlop took part in an athletics competition at the CopperBox Arena in the Olympic Park. The hard work and teamwork  paid off for Fairlop in the first round on the road to Crystal Palace in the London Mini Games.
Fairlop had won the first round by over 20 points which sent them comfortably into the round of the CopperBox. In the first round a few weeks earlier 16 schools had competed in the Rebridge heats and Fairlop took the title of the best athletic team in Redbridge. After 2 hard, long months it came to the day to represent Redbridge at the CopperBox.

Everyone at school was ready to go and fight for that place at Crystal Palace in training that morning.
At 11am the whole squad met up and headed towards the tube station, where we would get on the train to Stratford and then walk to the CopperBox. After getting a lot of encouragement from Mrs Jones and Ms Brannan, it was finally time to battle to try and win that spot at Crystal Palace. Only the top 2 would get through. It all started with the obstacle race, and we kicked off with a bang. Both our boys and girls team won their heat! We also won the boys and girls under over race. They all did very well! In the 1+1 Girls we came second in our heat, same as boys. We also came second in the 2+2 boys and girls, it was very tight! But then the 6 lap parlouff went very well for Fairlop! Representing the boys was Charlie George and Callum G, they won their heat and they won it proud. Representing the girls was Hannah and Sapphire, who repeated what the boys had done and won. The field events went well for Fairlop too with Charlie George winning the triple jump and coming second in the long jump. Hannah getting overall best score in speed bounce, Lukas winning his heat in Javelin, and a lot more who done very well too.
After a very long, tiring day, the events were finally over and the results were in. Everyone was nervous, even the teachers! But then . . . Fairlop were announced winners of the CopperBox, and best in East London! We were all over the moon and off to Crystal Palace. One more step to being the best in London, and winning in Crystal Palace.
Tired we made our way back to the tube and got home safely, after a solid win of over 20 points. WELL DONE FAIRLOP
Thank you to Mrs Tremayne. Mr Freeman, Mrs Glanville, Ms Brannan and Mrs Jones for helping transport back from the venue.

Mini-Games Football Competition - Heats...

Fairlop's football team represented the school in the 6 a side heat of the London Mini Games on Monday 2nd March.

The team played well winning their first game 7 - 0 but then losing their next game and drawing the last. They finished 3rd in their group with 4 points, however this was not enough to progress to the next round. They played the games showing good competitive spirit and sportsmanship.

They will now begin to play their 9 a side Redbridge League games.
